Fall Out Boy Release Second Single from “So Much (For) Stardust”

On January 25, the genre-bending, Chicago-based band Fall Out Boy released the second single from their upcoming album So Much (For) Stardust, titled “Heartbreak Feels So Good.”

While the albums lead single, “Love From The Other Side,” saw the band reverting to their roots in pop-punk and alternative, “Heartbreak Feels So Good” represents the band’s sonically-driven sound of their more recent albums.

Lead singer Patrick Stump’s vocals lead the track as it spirals into an upbeat chorus that’s impossible to not dance to. Despite being a stark contrast from the lead single’s orchestral opening and guitar-laden verses, “Heartbreak Feels So Good” undoubtedly still captures a uniquely anthemic sound that is authentically Fall Out Boy.

In a statement released by the band, we get a glimpse of what to expect from the new album – a sort of encapsulation of everything the band has done, put together in a new way: “Sometimes you gotta blow up everything you were and put the pieces back together in a new shape. The same but different - The foundation dynamited and the dust used to create the concrete pour.”

This sentiment reigns clear through the first two singles, with each song touching on elements we’ve heard across the band’s past eras.

The music video for the track matches the eclectic energy of the song. Featuring Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo, the video follows the journey of the band as they pull an unsuccessful prank on him and spend the rest of their day chaotically trying to escape in a rush to get to their concert that night. Upon arriving at the empty venue, lead guitarist, Joe Trohman, informs them over the phone that “the show is next weekend.”

The band will be heading off on the So Much For (Tour) Dust tour this summer, with 30 dates across North America, with UK/EU dates to follow in the fall. So Much (For) Stardust is set for release on March 24 via Fueled By Ramen.
