Indie neo-psych-folk artist M. Byrd has released his latest single “Morning Sun”. The track is an example of what good music can sound like without having to pull out all the stops. His vocals over a steady beat carry the song and would be the perfect addition to your morning playlist.

The 25-year-old was a tour bassist for Ilgen-Nur, but branched out after showing his demos to the band - thus where M. Byrd’s solo career began. His latest single is like returning to reality after a break, easing into the everlasting cycle of life. With an acoustic soundscape, it differs from his last single “Mountain”.

"Morning Sun has become a kind of morning mantra for me. The idea came to me a few years ago in the morning right after I got up and it came back to me subsequently over and over again, like a kind of entry into meditation, until I finally recorded it and arranged it into form,” M. Byrd describes his process.

The music video that accompanies the song has a simple, but effective concept. Director Marcel Izequierdo Torres uses a dark landscape with a flashing red light to highlight Rose Marie Lindstrøm, the dancer featured in the video. It features her own choreography, but effortlessly flows along with the vibe of the song. It has been released for under a month, but already has surpassed 14,000 views.

The track itself has reached over 100,000 plays on Spotify. “Morning Sun” follows the release of “Mountain”, which has over 2 million Spotify streams. The popularity must come from his effortless storytelling, which gives the listener a feeling of hope for the future. This single radiates a melancholic future and euphoric youth, an example of the inner working of M. Byrd’s process.

“I spent many years soaking up personal and musical experiences and I’ve been learning a lot in different studios and touring situations. The music I make is thus inspired by being on the road, moving on and allowing growth to happen,” M. Byrd explains, “I realized that the experiences on my path might also inspire other people and I hope that this will continue in the future with the songs we release.”

However, this is only the beginning for him and the future is already looking bright. Check out M. Byrd and his latest single, “Morning Sun”, out now!
