Writing and recording their new song amidst the beaches of Florida, the alt-pop band, Nightly, released a refreshing song to mark the beginning of summer vibes in music. The song, “lover/loner,” is an up-beat and entertaining song, capturing the perfect freedom and excitement that comes with warm days, the ocean breeze, and a group of friends. Despite having lyrics that contrast the overall mood of the song such as, “the angel’s always trying to fight the devil on my shoulder,” Nightly’s new release is no doubt going to be a summer hit. 

The Nashville-based band produces alternative pop music, and have been praised by MTV, 1883 Magazine, The Aquarian, and many more leading outlets. Following their EP, “night, love you,” released late last year, Nightly drops their first release since the album with the new song, “lover/loner.” The band proves to be eager and excited in bringing forward creativity with “lover/loner,” and is showing their talent with the vibrant new single. 

“Lover/loner” starts off mixing a really fun beat and progression. The combination of interesting synths and added effects make “lover/loner” an instant attention grabber. With a slight pause and intentional focus on the guitar for the chorus, it helps to create the juxtaposition between both the enthusiastic sounds and the more intense lyrics. In speaking about the contrast, Nightly explains, “As much as we try to maintain a positive mindset, we’re acknowledging the battle with the darker side of our brain. It’s just a really open honest perspective of what goes through our heads on a daily basis.” Although “lover/loner” is energetic and bright, Nightly is able to provide more of a creative insight to relaying different emotions and opposition people tend to feel.
