Ok Cool Throws it Back to 2005 with the "Divers" Music Video

Almost four months after releasing their EP Surrealist, indie-rock duo OK Cool debuts the music video for “Divers”. If you haven’t heard of them yet, this music video is a completely accurate look into who Bridget Stiebris and Haley Blomquist are.

“Somewhere in the brainstorming process, we landed on how funny it would be to bring back the now slightly-dated Nintendo DS and pretend like it’s something everyone uses in their daily lives,” Stiebris explains, “We called up our friend Nina who directed the “Five Finger Exploding Heart Technique” video and she loved the idea. From there, we took to downtown Chicago, goofed around, and let her work her editing magic.”

The track, which originated with the bassline, is carried through the small chat windows that fill with the lyrics. The video brings back major nostalgia for those who grew up using a Nintendo DS, and matches the light-heartedness that this Chicago-based group is all about. Nina Gaulin, who directed and edited the video, brought their visions perfectly to life because as Blomquist says, “everything is a meme.”
