“Oh, how lucky we are” to have such a beautiful masterpiece like “To Love” come out. Suki Waterhouse is on a roll this March with her first single of 2023 being released, in addition to the first few episodes of Daisy Jones & The Six out now on Amazon Prime, where she stars as keyboardist of The Six, Karen Sirko. She has a handful of festivals that she will be playing this year, as she has just wrapped up her Coolest Place in the World tour. Busy, busy gal! 

“To Love” is a powerful profession of love toward someone in a crazy time. The song explores a story of the possibility of crossing paths with someone, but then turning away from them. “Is there a universe where our paths never crossed? Where I caught your eye but then someone arrived and we both forgot.” What type of life happens after that moment, the people they fall in love with, and the stories that come from it; then, how ultimately they end up with each other. They beat the odds of the future with their old lovers and ended up here, “We talk of how lucky we got as we watched old lovers we dodgеd.” In comparison to Suki’s typical sad and whimsical approach to songwriting, “To Love” is a more heartfelt and hopeful love song. 

“‘To Love’ is a song that I wrote really recently that I was going to wait to put out on my second album, but I felt like it is a very distinct portrait of my heart right now that I wanted to share,” Suki said in a statement, “I started performing it on tour and got so excited that I wanted to share it with everyone.” At her Atlanta show in February this year, Suki played “To Love” to an audience and received high praise for it. It was such an entrancing performance as everyone waited to hear the words that spilled out of this song. Reaching the grand bridge she sang, “Now I found myself this kinda love, I can't believe it. I'll never leave it behind. I thought I'd never get to feel another fucking feeling, but I feel this love,” capturing the crowd in this powerful love song. 

Suki is not slowing down this 2023. From the looks of it, we can likely expect more music from her this year and a potential album sometime in the near future. Either way, we are stoked to see what she has in store for us.
