Burning Pools - "Bang Bang"

Born out of frustration and rage towards today’s society comes Burning Pools, a trio consisting of former bassist for Gwen Stefani and Smashing Pumpkins, Ginger Pooley, as well as her husband Kristopher Pooley and Max Bernstein. Combining confident and angsty lyrics, dark and distorted guitar riffs, and bold percussion, Burning Pools’ debut single “Bang Bang” provides an anthemic criticism on capitalism and authority. Featuring lyrics such as, “Your gold throne won’t save you”, Pooley criticizes society’s dependence on capitalism and exemplifies how money only leads to destruction. Reminiscent of 90’s grunge, the track proves to be a powerful debut bound to amass fans within the genre.

In the accompanying music video, the three can be seen in a very moody and grungy setting, matching perfectly with the overall sound of the track. Pooley can also be seen painting over a picture of George Washington with “Bang Bang” and dollar signs, providing an emphasis on the band’s commentary on capitalism and the importance money plays in today’s society. Gaining over a thousand views within the first month of releasing the video, Burning Pools’ are attracting former fans of their previous projects as well as new fans to their alluring sound and dark visuals.

With the release of their debut EP on the horizon, Burning Pools are already paving their own path within the rock scene.
