A new face has come to the forefront of hardcore alternative. This is the duo known as Fury in Few, hailing from the city of Atlanta, Georgia. Calling out to the kids of Generation Z, the two have released their latest single, “Knife Edge Death Match”. Fueled by heavy guitar riffs and an intense rhythm, this track will have your heart pounding and head banging. Frontman Brayden Gomer carries the vocals of this track with a captivating intensity, building to a peak in the bridge as he screams “I want to watch you suffer.” There is an undoubted angst captured in this track that truly breaks the expectations for the genre of modern day rock.

Accompanying the single comes a brilliant visual, yet it is not quite what you would expect from a duo like this. The video follows the two around various landmarks of their town as they chow down on a box of wings for a span of five minutes. For this duration, they leave you waiting in anticipation for something more, yet it never comes. The brilliance in this visual is the simplicity and ultimate realness about it. Fury in Few breaks every glamorous expectation viewers have of a rock band to bring back the realization that musicians can be just as ordinary as anyone else.

I had the chance to chat with Brayden about the origins behind the band and gain some insight on “Knife Edge Death Match”. Here’s what he had to say:

Tell me a bit about the origins of Fury in Few!

Brayden: Well, we started as a Jonas Brothers cover band, but unfortunately we could never find a guy to be Kevin (who's obviously the hottest one). Plus, I could never hit the high notes on the song “Year 3000” so everyone hated it, so instead we decided to try out playing rock music.

This year has been quite the journey for you as a band, how do you feel the ongoing pandemic and political uproar in the nation has affected you as artists?

Brayden: The pandemic has been great. It’s been allowing me to follow my true passion...cosplaying. I love dressing like my favorite anime character, Jimmy Neutron. On the political side, I haven’t been too affected because my candidate hasn’t decided to run yet. I’m part of the BTS Army, which is a growing political party in America and we all really want Jungkook to run (because he’s the most talented). We all figure if he can lead BTS, then he can definitely lead this country!

It seems you’ve been spending a lot of time in the studio recently, what has your creative process been like when crafting new tracks?

Brayden: Firstly, I watch my favorite movie “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties,” which gives me all the inspiration I need. Then, I write the song, show it to Ryan, and then he plays some dope drums. Boom. You have a FIF song.

Your latest track “Knife Edge Death Match” definitely makes a statement on the impact our generation holds, what has been the biggest inspiration behind the song?

Brayden: Fuck the rock music that the Gen X guys make. We can’t relate to anything that they are making because we’re all not 52 and mad about our backs hurting. This is the new era and we need to earn our respect.

How do you feel that future generations can push the music industry in a new direction?

Brayden: By starting rock bands. Rock n roll has and will always be impactful to the culture, but we need to show the old generation the new way of doing things and that real and unique rock bands can be successful in the internet age. We can take on the torch and the genre is in good hands. Things aren’t getting worse, they’re getting better, you just have to kick the old heads in the face a little bit so they pay attention.
