On Friday, March 15th, Ryan Beatty graced the iconic Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles, California with the final performance of his Calico Tour, leaving audiences in awe with this conclusion. Previously known for his contributions to the hip-hop collective BROCKHAMPTON and collaborations with industry giants like Tyler, the Creator and Kevin Abstract, Beatty began venturing into his own musical realm, exploring the depths of alternative, R&B, and neo-soul genres.
Following a 3 year-hiatus, Beatty resurfaced with his third studio album, Calico, released on April 28, 2023, following the success of his sophomore endeavor, Dreaming of David, in 2020. The Calico Tour showcased Beatty's evolution as an artist, featuring an intimate acoustic set that immersed fans in his music. Beatty’s set featured a minimalist backdrop resembling that of a studio session, which promised an up-close and personal experience for audiences.

With a captivating piano intro, Beatty emerged to a thunderous applause from the audience, kicking off the evening putting on his headphones and grabbing his microphone to perform the soul-stirring "Ribbons." Beatty's live vocals transcended, being one of the few artists around to sound exactly like their studio recordings .
Tracks like "Cinnamon Bread" and "Andromeda" further demonstrated that with Beatty's vocal talent taking center stage. After performing these songs, Beatty stood up and began telling the crowd how grateful he’s been to all the fans that came out to this tour. He notes his gratitude for being able to perform this album live for everyone. While this tour was mainly focusing on his album, Calico, Beatty treated fans to a delightful medley of older favorites including "Haircut," "Cupid," an unreleased track titled "Sweet Man of Mine," and “Powerglide” which were all reimagined as acoustic ballads to seamlessly intertwine with the album's aesthetic. Throughout the performance, Beatty and his band shared their joy amongst each other, constantly looking at each other, smiling at the music they were playing.
As the night drew to a close with the haunting strains of "White Teeth," the audience cheered for more, prompting an encore that saw Beatty paying homage to some of his musical influences with covers of Dolly Parton's "Do I Ever Cross Your Mind," Don Mclean's "Vincent," and Brooks & Dunn’s "Neon Moon." The evening reached its end with "Little Faith," resulting in a well-deserved standing ovation for Beatty and his ensemble.
