Cassyette and Yonaka Share a Headline Run Across America's East Coast, Starting in Orlando, Florida
Cassyette is a name that has been on the top of our radar for the past year, and we were lucky to have witnessed her first show in the US as she kicks off The Riot Tour with fellow UK natives, Yonaka. The Orlando show marks the first in a run of dates across the east coast of the US. Though the tour sports names that are fresh on the scene of feminist, alternative rock, Cassyette and Yonaka are making an impressive statement as future leaders of the scene.
The room erupted with cheers as Cassyette began the night with none other than the head-banging track, “Petrichor”. Fans bobbed to the beat of the song, singing along to every word as Cassyette fed off their energy, even inviting fans to sing along with her during the height of the chorus. The setlist consisted of fan favorites from beginning to end, sneaking in a few new tracks off of her upcoming debut record This World Fucking Sucks in between. The energy carried throughout the room with fans singing their hearts out to “Ipecac” and “September Rain.” Jumping and dancing around the stage, Cassyette encouraged the crowd to bring their all with the final song of her set, “Dear Goth.”
Yonaka is a force to be reckoned with. The UK three-piece hailing from Brighton brings a powerful presence to the evolving state of rock music, leaving audiences with a new perspective on the genre as a whole. Front woman, Theresa Jarvis holds nothing back in her performance, supported by band members Alex Crosby and George Werbrouck-Edwards. The set brought a delightful balance of anthemic, in-your-face tracks such as “Greedy” and “Seize the Power” and moody songs with a punk edge such as “PANIC.”
With an energy like Yonaka’s, it’s no surprise the group has collaborated with the likes of grandson, Fever 333, and metalcore revolutionaries, Bring Me The Horizon. Collectively, Yonaka and Cassyette stand for empowerment across the music industry, speaking with vulnerability and raw emotion in each and every song across their discography. If there is anything this tour has proved, it is that women are truly unstoppable.
