The Driver Era Brings a New Obsession to Pittsburgh

On March 13, 2025 Pittsburgh definitely found a new obsession when The Driver Era came into town with the Obsession Tour, brining along support artist Thomas day.

The Driver Era is made up of none other than Ross and Rocky Lynch, both members of the iconic 2010’s band R5.

The first act of the night was Thomas Day and boy, was I not prepared! Thomas Day had the most energy I have ever seen in an opening act, reminiscent of Benson Boone with the way he moves. The music was absolutely great, bringing the crowd to their feet to dance along. His lighting was also so beautiful and moody, but just the right amount. I would definitely go see him again!

The Driver Era came on stage to the crowd screaming for both Lynch brothers very loudly, which could not prepare me for how loud they would be after the curtain dropped to reveal the band.

My only complaint about this show was the lack of lighting at the beginning of the set. It wasn't my favorite as a photographer, but afterwards, the rest of the show blew my expectations into the water with how insane their production was. The stage had a whole scenic setup, even bringing more props to the stage throughout the show. Some of the props included a streetlight, park bench, a payphone, and even a whole window scene which you found Ross in frequently.

I’d like to talk about how great Ross Lynch’s stage presence is for a moment. Wow, was it insane to watch. He brought a handheld camera around and filming the crowd and the band throughout the show. He really does know his audience as well, showing off some of his dance moves throughout the night which had the crowd swooning. Watching their fans at this show was so fun, especially seeing the excitement on their faces and wearing their cute outfits and hats. Ross ended up stealing someone's hat by the middle of the set, which made for a fun addition to his already stylish outfit of the night.;

Rocky also hopped on the mic from time to time and made some jokes. He even messed up a song playfully at one point which made the crowd giggle.

All in all, my first time seeing The Driver Era brought no complaints. This band is beyond entertaining, and it is insane to see live even if you aren't a big fan of the genre. 10/10, I would definitely go see them again!
