Raye Robinson Returns with the Release of "Rainy Day Daydream"

Raye Robinson is back again with another dreamy single! The talented indie-pop artist followed up her first single release from earlier in the year, “Daisies,” with a brand new hit. Born and raised in SoCal, Robinson created “Rainy Day Daydream” with the help of Rob Auerbach through what she describes as “his DIY garage studio.” Pushing through the loneliness of the pandemic and utilizing that time to express her creativity, “Rainy Day Daydream,” allowed her to expand her creative control to help find her sound.

“Rainy Day Daydream'' begins with soft vocals and a ukulele, which sets the dream-like mood the song is aiming for. With mesmerizing vocalization and harmonies, Robinson shows her aptitude for singing and songwriting. The comforting tone and simplistic beat, gives “Rainy Day Daydream” the calming and relaxing vibe that you would feel on a rainy day while reminiscing. Robinson’s use of rain sounds in the background and the complete sound of the instrumentals, allows the song to elicit feel-good energy. The very simplistic bridge encourages Robinson’s vocal strength to be shown-off, not only stunningly technical, but dreamlike in all aspects!

Robinson discusses the intention behind the song, relating to the nervousness that comes with having a new crush. “It’s all about wanting to be around them,” Robinson explains, “craving their touch and attention, letting yourself get caught up in a daydream just to get your ‘fix’ of them.” Similarly to her previous single, “Daisies,” the single is elaborating on a crush and all of the energy surrounding those feelings of excitement. With lyrics such as, “you give me butterflies I haven’t felt since high school,” and “if you give me a chance, I can show you what it’s like to be my rainy day daydream,” Robinson is able to convey all of the emotional giddiness that comes with reminiscing about a crush.

Raye Robinson is consistent with her musical capabilities, and is a songwriter that is just beginning her journey through the music world.
