Show Review: Inhaler Makes Their Florida Debut at Orlando's House of Blues
Dublin’s finest indie rock quartet, Inhaler, made their debut in Orlando, Florida with an impressive show at House of Blues. As the first of three Florida dates on the Open Wide North American Tour, the band brought swarms of fans out to catch their show on the night of March 13th. Anticipation radiated from the packed room as the energy rose leading up to Inhaler’s performance.
As the room went dark, cheers erupted from the crowd as the band took to the stage, opening with no other than the hit, “My Honest Face”. Right off the bat, fans were ecstatic to see the Irish boys in the flesh. The night kicked off with a bang as they progressed through the setlist with ease, performing beloved songs such as “Eddie In The Darkness,” “When It Breaks,” and “Who’s Your Money On? (Plastic House).”
The crowd showed their dedication to the band during “My King Will Be Kind,” shouting every profane lyric at the top of their lungs with an immense passion. Immediately following came the fan favorite, “Dublin In Ecstasy.” As the song’s bridge approached, lead singer, Elijah Hewson hopped off the stage with his guitar and jumped up on the barricade. One lucky girl named Samantha stole the show in that moment, sharing the microphone with Hewson to carry out the song’s iconic bridge. The audience delightfully gave her the moment as she took it away singing “You’re not just a friend of a friend of mine!”
The energy never faltered throughout the entire night as the band carried out an impressive 18 song setlist. Prefacing the encore was “Cheer Up Baby,” and the crowd danced along through the upbeat, optimistic track. After endless “encore” chants, the band returned to the stage for three final songs, “Open Wide,” “It Won’t Always Be Like This,” and “Your House.” In true Floridian fashion, Hewson took a pair of Mickey Mouse Ears from a fan to wear through the finale, representing the venue’s location at Disney Springs with pride.
There is no doubt Inhaler is beloved in the state of Florida, and with this remarkable performance in Orlando, they are bound to be back to visit the state in the future. If you have the opportunity, catch Inhaler on tour in a city near you. This is a band you will want to keep your eyes on.
