Show Review: Poppy's All Around Us In Pittsburgh
Poppy, 2x Grammy nominated singer and songwriter has been taking the world by storm. The artist is entering the metal scene with force, joining in on songs with iconic artists such as Knocked Loose and Bad Omens and holding a consistent touring schedule. Right before her tour she was also on Jimmy Kimmel Live twice performing with Knocked Loose and in a solo performance, showcasing one of her brand new songs “The Cost of Giving Up.”
Poppy released her newest album, Negative Spaces, solidifying her mark on the metal world. The record was created in collaboration with ex-Bring Me The Horizon member, Jordan Fish, credited as a writer and producer. With the same pop vibe mixed in with her banshee like screams, Negative Spaces is the perfect album to reach new heights.
To celebrate, Poppy brought the They’re All Around Us Tour to The Roxian Theater in Mckees Rocks, Pennsylvania on March 22, 2025 bringing along Kumo 99 as support.
Poppy has come such a long way performing from the last time I saw her at the beginning of 2024. Her crowd interaction has gotten so much stronger and I loved seeing her own the stage like an absolute queen. The stage really is her home, she deserves to be there and she makes the show unique in many ways. Poppy’s vocal range is also incredible to hear live as well. She may sound like a siren in the night while singing, but once she lets out her screams, the angel changes.
Her visuals were insane, and the stage set up was a beautiful white with little platforms to stand on. The production on this tour was so fun to witness live and she even brought out props for some songs. In between, I loved seeing the doll version of Poppy come out for a couple minutes. Doll Poppy is also included in the visualizers, talking with the crowd. For “Scary Mask,” she even walked out wearing the a mask for a good portion of the track.
Poppy is probably one of the best artists I’ve seen live in a while, and she is always a favorite to see as well. With the way she owns the stage, demanding the crowd, is so inspiring to see as a woman in the metalcore scene. We needed more women in this space to show everyone we also deserve to be here and Poppy has done JUST that.
