Delta Rae is a six-piece band originally from Durham, NC, though much of the band now lives in Nashville, TN. Siblings Ian (guitar), Eric (piano and guitar), along with Brittany Holljes (vocals), and good friend Liz Hopkins (vocals) make up four of six. The group is then rounded out with bassist Grant Emerson and drummer Mike Mckee. Their sound is a little bit country, a bit rock and roll, some pop; all coming together under the umbrella of Americana.

Some musicians take a leap of faith and hope their music carries them.  Delta Rae is one such band. They parted ways with their second record label because they were trying to define the band; with a band like Delta Rae that’s impossible. They wanted to create their next album on their terms, and turned to their fans for support via a Kickstarter campaign.

The band set out with a goal of $30,000 to make The Light album. Their wildest dreams could not prepare them for just how much their fans, the Ride or Diehards, would carry them.  The goal was met within 30 minutes, and they doubled the goal within the first hour.  By the end of the campaign the band raised $451,457 making it the 5th highest grossing music campaign and most backed indie band in Kickstarter history.

The campaign allowed the group to release The Light in March 2020 along with plans for an accompanying tour.  When those plans failed, The Door opened. Each member creates a show and the band does streamed concerts behind the door on their website for anyone who purchases a key. We’ve even seen a live album and DVD released in 2020 to try and make up for some lost live experience for their fans.

They raised enough money that the follow-up album, “The Dark”, and a southern gothic musical are on the horizon from this band, making them an unstoppable force within the industry.
